Greatest Fireworks I’ve ever seen… NOT!
January 3rd, 2007 — bjouNow don’t get me wrong, my London trip really was a blast and definitely worth it. New Years Eve was quite disappointing though. Getting out of the tube almost soberly again (after having emptied my Asbach with Marc and Jeff, the Canadian guy) to head for the Thames at about 23.50, we got stuck in almost 200k people and did not see shit of the fireworks, except for some huge countdown right beside the London Eye. Not the Eye itsself though, although we’ve just been a few metres away on the other shore. We maybe should have skipped dinner. And the girls should have showered and put up their makeup in time
Well, whatever. I now saw the fireworks on youtube. They really were perfect. As for that, we decided to celebrate our own New Years Eve on New Years Day. And we did, having some nice dinner, visiting the Rocky Horror Picture Show, getting wasted with a bottle of Scotch on some random steps near Leicester Square (at least Jeff and me) and finally going clubbing, which is fucking expensive in London.
Drawbacks: No booze after 11pm, many clubs close early (even Dec, 31 at 3am and on weekends even earlier), weather quite variable, expensive
Bottom Line: Anyway a great trip, to be repeated some time!
